Ian Sharples joined the California Housing Partnership in October 2022. As Sustainable Housing Program Manager he supports the Partnership’s affordable housing preservation and policy efforts by advancing building decarbonization efforts. Ian leads the Partnership’s Building Initiative for Low-Emissions Development (BUILD) Program promoting the development of new all-electric housing. He also leads engagement on the Energy Efficiency for All (EEFA) advocacy campaign. 

Prior to joining the Partnership, Ian worked in housing for four years, most recently as Housing Services Program Manager for Community Action Partnership of Kern where he managed rental assistance and farmworker housing programs. Before that he served as Executive Director of the Income Property Association of Kern, a chapter of the California Apartment Association where he developed models for landlord engagement on homelessness. Ian came to housing after a career in electoral politics where housing affordability was the most consistent concern of voters.

Ian earned his bachelor of arts in Political Science from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2011. He also holds training certifications in Person-Centered/Data-Driven Management and Supervising Permanent Supportive Housing Teams.
