Matt Alvarez-Nissen joined the California Housing Partnership in 2022. As Research Manager, Matt N. manages various research projects, such as the unsubsidized affordable housing at-risk report, and supports the Partnership’s policy and research efforts through data analysis and program evaluation. He also oversees several projects that include regional work with local governments and statewide academic/research partners, including efforts related to addressing residential segregation and affirmatively furthering fair housing. He was promoted from Senior Research/Policy Associate in 2024.
Prior to joining the Partnership, Matt worked at Dyett & Bhatia where he was the lead planner on housing elements for several California cities. Before Dyett & Bhatia, Matt worked on gentrification and displacement research projects at both the Urban Displacement Project and the Changing Cities Research Lab. Matt earned a B.A. in Urban Studies and an M.A. in Public Policy at Stanford University in 2020.
