Host: San Diego Housing Federation

SDHF Conference 2021 graphic

This is a session on Day 1 of the Federation’s 2021 Conference: “Remembering. Reimagining. Reengaging.” October 19-21.

Decarbonization (i.e. no natural gas) is a priority for the CEC; upcoming building code will prioritize elimination of gas from new constriction. Many cities have already prohibited new gas hookups. There are complexities of design, construction and operation of affordable apartments using all-electric including for water heating. The panel of experts include the author of CHPC’s 2021 report on this topic, and will provide how-to information for developers, design and construction professionals, asset and property managers, and lenders/investors. This seeks to answer all our “dumb questions” in this effort of reducing green house gas while also building cost effective affordable apartments.
