California’s Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC) Program Impact Report: Rounds 1 – 7

AHSC Report Rounds 1-7 cover

The California Housing Partnership (the Partnership) has released a new policy brief co-authored with Enterprise Community Partners documenting the substantial community and economic benefits made possible by the Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC) program.

According to the report, the AHSC program has already brought about 17,878 new affordable homes and reduced 5.2 million metric tons of GHG emissions across California. The program invested $3.2 billion in 185 catalytic affordable housing developments in seven rounds of funding since 2015. These developments integrate housing and transportation with greenhouse gas reducing infrastructure and amenities supporting sustainable, connected, vibrant neighborhoods.

Housing affordability and climate change issues both require urgent and integrated solutions. Programs like AHSC that offer multifaceted solutions with demonstrated co-benefits are more important than ever. Now approaching its seventh round of funding, AHSC continues to be a strong example of integrated, cross-sector investment that bridges short-term needs and long-term goals for California.
